It’s important to create good quality designs before printing them onto shirts or hoodies. If you bring in a design taken from the internet, chances are it will be a very low quality image. There may also be copyright issues when using images from the internet, so keep that in mind. We usually alter those images enough to make them legal to use. Also, we must spend time enhancing the artwork before we can start color separating the design. When we color separate, we pick each color out of the design so we can make an individual screen plate for each color. Try to image a coloring book image with no color, just an outline. We then fill each area with the right colors where they should go using our design software. After that we can print out each color onto a positive film plate to make the screens.
Here at Graphic Silkscreen we’ve helped our customers achieve the best quality design possible using Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator to create or enhance the artwork for the best quality screen print possible. Digital images should start at about 150 – 300 pixels. If we receive 72px images “internet quality”, it takes more effort to clean up and enhance the artwork for printing. Especially if the image is very small to begin with.
